Facebook’s Moments Now Supports Video Sharing
Facebook launched a new standalone app in June last year called Moments. The app enables users to share their photos privately with one or more of their Facebook friends. Moments is also capable of detecting user’s friends in their camera roll, grouping photos based on time and date and also based on the people in them. Facebook today released an update for the Moments app which allows users to share videos privately as well alongside photos.
The new feature is now live in the updated version of Facebook Moments which is available for download right away via the App Store and the Google Play Store.
The social network says that in a few weeks it’s also going to enable users to include videos in their Moments slideshows as well. Facebook also shared some numbers that show just how popular Moments has become in a very short span of time.
Ever since the app was launched in June last year, users have shared more than 400 million photos in Moments, with more than 100 million of those photos being shared in the last month alone.
Facebook has pushed Moments through the News Feed and integrated it with notifications and Messenger so that users can be alerted when their friends share new photos with them. This has enabled the app to remain in the list of most popular apps on the App Store and Google Play Store. The strategy appears to be paying dividends.
