Lenovo ThinkPad13 will vailable in both Windows 10 and Chrome OS
Lenovo announced today an all-new ThinkPad 13 sporting two different models, one running Windows 10 and the other Chrome OS. Unfortunately, consumers will have to pick between the two models, as Lenovo isn't offering a dual-boot option, no doubt because of the technology requirements from Microsoft and Google.
Both models of the Lenovo ThinkPad 13 features the same specifications: the latest generation Intel Core i5 processor, 16GB of RAM, and 512GB of storage. There are a few differences as far as ports and keyboard layouts go, largely because of the different needs in both operating systems.
The Chrome OS variant features the traditional lightweight keyboard historically seen on past Chromebooks. It only features one USB port, but also has two USB-C ports in tow. In contrast, the Windows variant has an HDMI port, three USB ports, a single USB-C port and Lenovo's TrackPoint tracing stick.
The Windows variant of Lenovo's ThinkPad 13 will no doubt be the hot seller, as USB-C hasn't been widely adopted yet and Chromebooks are still only attractive to a small audience.
Lenovo says the Windows model will be available in April for $449. The Chrome OS model will launch much later in the year, arriving in June for $399.
