Facebook Will Now Notify You If Your Account’s Been Compromised

We’re pretty sure more often than not you have heard about Facebook accounts being hacked. This is sometimes due to the use of poor passwords, or because of phishing attempts where you accidentally give away your Facebook login credentials. That being said, Facebook in a bid to step up its efforts will soon be pushing out new types of notifications.
According to the social network, they will soon start displaying notifications to users whose accounts might have been compromised by the government, or who might have had experienced attempts to break into it. As you can see in the screenshot above, that is the notification and message that users will get in such situations.
Facebook writes, This seems to be on the heels ofEdward Snowden’s leaked reports from a while back in which it was suggested that government agencies like the NSA were spying on its citizens.
Facebook also goes on to note that this notification is not an indication that Facebook itself is compromised, but rather the user’s account, so if you do get such a message, perhaps you might be interested in upping your security.
